Set up in 2017 by two brothers, Osvald and Gerard Martret, Shotl is a mobility platform that allows public transport operators to automatically manage and provide transportation services that adapt to the real demand from users. A mobile app offers passengers the chance to connect to a network of minibuses in real time. The service itself is optimised and adjusted to meet the needs of all users of the system.
The company founders explained that the startup’s main goal is to reduce the number of bus routes running virtually empty and replace them with demand responsive vehicles. This entails having flexible routes and stops, which will lead to a reduction in the environmental impact from the transport grid.
A further eight companies also received prizes at the event, from a total of 571 candidates. Made up by 50 European experts, the panel’s decision was based on economic, innovation and ecological criteria.
